Government faces a clear choice, says WWF
Rick Parfett, WWF’s Head of Climate Policy, said: “At this Budget, the Government faces a clear choice. It can tackle the cost of living and strengthen the UK’s energy security, by making electricity cheaper and ensuring all households can feel benefits of clean energy.
“Or it can leave households dangerously exposed to fossil fuel price shocks and climate impacts by slashing support for heat pumps and electric vehicles while licensing new oil and gas drilling.
“After a summer of extreme heat, we’re now facing a winter of eye-watering energy bills. This Budget needs to turbocharge progress towards a clean economy that creates resilient growth in every postcode, stabilises bills, and protects people and nature from the impacts of extreme weather.”
