Inspection announcement: An inspection of the benefits arising from, and enabled by, the Future Border and Immigration System programme

In line with his 2026-27 Inspection Plan, the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration (ICIBI) has commenced an inspection of the benefits arising from, and enabled by, the Future Border and Immigration System (FBIS) programme.

The inspection will have a particular focus on the effectiveness of:

• the transition of benefits from the Digital Permissions delivery area into business-as-usual operations
• the realisation of Electronic Travel Authorisation and eVisa fee income benefits
• the arrangements to track the Border Vision project benefits enabled by FBIS.

The inspection team anticipates reporting to the Home Secretary by July 2026.
