Letter from the Secretary of State and the Mayor of London: final proposed package of support for housebuilding in London
The Secretary of State and the Mayor of London have written to developers, Registered Providers and London Boroughs to confirm the final proposed package of emergency measures to support housebuilding in the capital.
In October 2025, the government and the Mayor of London announced package of time-limited emergency measures to support housebuilding in London. Consultations for these measures were launched in November 2025 and closed in January 2026.
The letter sets out the final proposed package of time-limited emergency measures to accelerate housebuilding in the capital. It confirms next steps for implementation and sets out expectations for developers, Registered Providers and London Boroughs to use the measures to maximise delivery of social and affordable housing.
