Super-complaint on the Service Police’s access to victims’ work emails and internet browser history

Super-complaint submitted by the Centre for Military Justice about the Service Police’s access to victims’ work emails and internet browser history.

The Service Police (Complaints etc) Regulations 2023 enable bodies designated by the Secretary of State to make super-complaints about features of Service Policing they think may be harming the interests of the public.

On 5 August 2025, His Majesty’s Chief Inspector of Constabulary (HMCI) received a Service Police super-complaint from the Centre for Military Justice. The super-complaint is about the Service Police’s access to victims’ work emails and internet browser history.

HMCI and the Interim Service Police Complaints Commissioner have assessed this super-complaint and decided it is eligible for investigation.

At the request of the Centre for Military Justice, we have redacted information that could identify individuals and removed personal information from its submission.
