Sedgman appointed as the preferred EPCM contractor for Colossus Rare Earth Project
Sedgman, a member of the ACS Group, has been appointed as the preferred engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) contractor for the Colossus Rare Earth Project in Minas Gerais, Brazil, by Viridis Mining & Minerals Limited (Viridis).
The appointment marks an important milestone in the development of one of the world's most significant ionic adsorption clay (IAC) rare earth projects and further strengthens Sedgman’s growing presence in South America.
Work will commence immediately under a bridging phase to progress critical detailed engineering design and procurement activities ahead of the Project Final Investment Decision (FID).
Following Final Investment Decision (FID), Sedgman will continue to work closely with Viridis and our Brazilian engineering and project delivery partner, Blossom Consult, to support the successful development of the project. Through the integrated Sedgman-Blossom delivery model, Sedgman will leverage its global EPCM and minerals processing expertise alongside Blossom’s established engineering and project delivery capability in Brazil, providing integrated project delivery services to progress the project through execution and commissioning to operational ramp-up.
Located in Brazil's Poços de Caldas region, the Colossus Project is emerging as an important source of rare earth elements. The project has the potential to significantly contribute to the diversification of critical mineral supply chains and support the growing demand for materials essential to electrification, renewable energy technologies and advanced manufacturing.
