Expanding AI educator training to new countries
Google is expanding its no-cost, on-demand Google AI Educator Series to Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Australia and sub-Saharan Africa in the coming months, following its rollout in the U.S., India, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, and the U.K. and Ireland. The training offers practical AI skills, and educators in participating countries are using tools such as Gemini to create lessons and assessments, support student learning and save preparation time. In India, September sessions trained 80,000 educators, while a Philippine partnership aims to provide AI training to more than one million educators. New U.S. modules launch November 4, covering interactive assessments, game-based learning and stronger academic assignments.
The Google AI Educator Series is expanding to five new countries: Spain, Brazil, Mexico, Australia, and sub-Saharan Africa. Here’s how teachers are already using it around the globe.
Teachers around the world strive to find better ways to overcome challenges and meet each students' unique needs, and many have discovered how AI can become a powerful assistant in this effort.
That's why we created the Google AI Educator Series (GES): a no-cost, on-demand training designed to give educators practical AI skills they can use immediately and that fits into their busy schedule.
We first launched GES in the U.S earlier this year, and later expanded to India, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, and the U.K & Ireland. In the coming months, we’re bringing GES to Brazil, Mexico, Spain, Australia, and sub-Saharan Africa.
A look at GES from teachers around the world
Here is a look at how educators around the world are turning their training into practical applications that save time, make lessons more engaging, and support student learning:
- India: Teachers are using Gemini and Gemini Notebook to turn complex topics into comic strips, podcasts & infographics – making learning more accessible and engaging. Following September sessions that trained 80,000 educators, we’re bringing GES to all Indian educators with self-paced online modules. Aligned with National Education Policy 2020, the training is available in English & six local languages — Hindi, Marathi, Telugu, Assamese, Odia, Punjabi — with more coming next year.
- Philippines: Educators are using Gemini to simulate complex market scenarios in economics classes and more, all to free up time for direct student guidance. To support this progress, we’ve partnered with the Philippine Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, and Technical Skills Development Authority to bring AI training to over one million educators across the country. Building on this momentum, the Philippine Department of Education recently issued an official memorandum endorsing GES to all teaching and non-teaching staff nationwide.
- Malaysia: Following the official launch of GES at BETT Asia, Malaysian teachers report saving three to five hours of prep time on curricula, assessments, and visual aids per topic, allowing them to focus on interactive, student-centered learning. As a next step, we are launching "train-the-trainer" bootcamps alongside local partners to expand GES training to private school educators, pre-service teachers, and university faculty nationwide.
- United Kingdom: In the U.K., teachers are using tools like Gemini Notebook to develop learners’ creative writing skills and create engaging lesson plans and visuals. Through the launch of GES, all 650,000 teachers can receive digital literacy training by joining virtual or in-person events around the UK and Ireland. We are also hosting “train the trainer” workshops in the Google London office in November.
- Korea: In partnership with Seoul National University of Education (SNUE), GES in Korea is aligned with the 2022 Revised Curriculum and the Ministry of Education's Teacher AI/Digital Education Competency Framework. Teachers are using Gemini and Gemini Notebook to design inquiry-based lessons and assessments while streamlining administrative tasks like parent communications and data analysis.
New November sessions
To ensure GES lessons are truly helpful, we update and create new content monthly in response to feedback from educators. Our November modules go live on November 4th in the U.S. focused on helping educators save time where they tell us they need it most.
Here's what's coming:
- Build interactive assessments: Learn how to use Gemini to build practice tests and interactive web assessments — like exit tickets with instant feedback and hints for incorrect answers — to help students prepare for assessments like state exams..
- Guide students through game-based learning: Guide students through interactive, game-based learning experiences that demonstrate the importance of data accuracy, model performance, and human oversight.
- Strengthen academic assignments: Use Gemini to learn how to spot questions that can lead to taking shortcuts, helping faculty strengthen assignments and encourage deeper student critical thinking.
