Violent rapist who targeted three women has his sentence increased after the Solicitor General intervened.

Bruno Sala, of Havant, Hampshire, had his sentence increased to Life Imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and 258 days after the Solicitor General referred his case to the Court of Appeal under the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme.

The court heard that Sala raped and violently assaulted three women he met through dating apps.

Sala was previously convicted of multiple sexual offences and assault against a fourth victim, receiving a 25-year sentence, comprised of 20 years’ imprisonment with an extended licence period of 5 years.

The Solicitor General Ellie Reeves KC MP said:

What Bruno Sala did to these women was utterly despicable. He deliberately targeted three women, manipulating them and committing horrific acts of sexual violence.

I welcome the court’s decision to increase Sala’s sentence following my referral.

My thoughts are with his victims, who showed immense courage in coming forward. Violence against women and girls is never acceptable, and I will use every tool available to ensure sentences reflect the true gravity of these crimes.

On 28 November 2025, Sala was sentenced to life with a minimum of 16 years and 137 days at Portsmouth Crown Court for five counts of rape, two counts of assisting/encouraging rape and two counts of actual bodily harm.

On 31 March 2026 at the Court of Appeal, Bruno Sala’s sentence was increased to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 21 years and 258 days.
