The appointment of The Right Honourable Lord Justice Dove was made in accordance with Regulation 10 of the Judicial Appointment Commission Regulations 2013.

On his appointment as a Senior Judicial Commissioner, the Right Honourable Lord Justice Dove will become - in accordance with the Constitutional Reform Act 2005 - the Vice Chairman of the Commission.

Biography

Lord Justice Dove was called to the Bar (Inner Temple) in 1986 and took Silk in 2003. He was appointed a High Court Judge to the Queen’s Bench Division (now the King’s Bench Division) in 2014, and as a Member of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission in 2015. From 2018 to 2021 he served as a Presiding Judge on the Northern Circuit. He was appointed the President of the Upper Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in October 2022, and in February 2025 he was appointed the Deputy Senior President of Tribunals. He became a Lord Justice of Appeal in November 2025.
