Letter to the CMA on vigilance for unjustifiable price increases

United Kingdom Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs Unknown author

The Chancellor expressed support for the CMA’s work to ensure customers are not affected by undue price rises, including for road fuel and heating oil.

The Chancellor stressed that she would not tolerate any company exploiting the current crisis to make excess profits at customers’ expense and that she was confident that the CMA will not hesitate to use any powers at its disposal to act strongly against any unacceptable conduct, such as profiteering or exploitation of the situation.

The Chancellor offered to work with the CMA to ensure that the CMA has what it needs to tackle any incidences of exploitative practices.

The Chancellor invited the CMA to a roundtable with petrol forecourt operators to discuss the situation and the importance of Fuel Finder implementation.
