Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan attends clean electricity workshop in Tashkent

Senior officials from the Turkmenistan Ministry of Energy attended a UK-supported regional training on clean electricity transition in Tashkent from 31 March to 3 April. The workshop, delivered by UK technical experts and academics under the Green Grids Initiative and based on the Electricity Transition Playbook, aimed to strengthen participants’ capacity to design and implement national electricity transition strategies, including priority reforms, actionable plans, resource mobilization and monitoring progress. Participants benefited from a better understanding of the technical, economic and policy dimensions, practical planning tools, access to international expertise and opportunities to exchange experiences with regional peers, with integration into a global network of policymakers and experts working on clean energy transitions. The United Kingdom reiterated its commitment to supporting Central Asian partners in modernising and decarbonising their electricity systems, increasing the share of renewable energy and advancing sustainable economic development.

Senior representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan participated in a regional training workshop on clean electricity transition. The workshop took place in Tashkent from 31 March to 3 April, with support from the British Embassy in Turkmenistan.

The workshop was delivered by leading UK technical experts and academics under the Green Grids Initiative and was based on the Electricity Transition Playbook. The Playbook is a practical framework designed to support countries in planning and implementing the shift to modern, low-carbon power systems.

The training strengthened participants’ capacity to design and deliver effective electricity transition strategies. It provided a structured approach to identifying priority areas for reform, developing actionable national plans, mobilising resources and monitoring progress across key building blocks of the transition.

The workshop addressed these challenges and supported countries in navigating the complexities of the transition.
