National memorial service at St. Paul’s Cathedral for the infected blood community will take place on Tuesday 19 May 2026 at 11:00 am (doors open at 10:00 am; the service lasts one hour) and the Cathedral will remain open until 1:00 pm. A private entrance is available for attendees who do not wish to be filmed, and the service will be live-streamed and recorded for those unable to attend in person. The event is Christian-based but welcomes all faiths, predominantly for members of the infected blood community, with supporters invited; state representatives are invited and the Memorial Committee seeks witnesses to the impact of the scandal so that it may never be repeated. Financial assistance for travel and accommodation is available within a finite budget, and attendees are asked to claim only what is truly necessary; support may cover standard travel and up to £195 per room for one night if the journey exceeds three hours, with more information at [email protected] and a privacy notice available.

Travel and expenses

- Financial assistance will be reserved for those in the community who need it most and would otherwise not be able to attend without support.
- We kindly ask that you only claim travel and accommodation expenses if financial help is truly necessary for you. By covering your own travel where possible, you directly help us ensure that every member of the community who needs help can join us on the day.
- Less than half of attendees to the Church House event in November 2025 claimed expenses.
- For those who need support, you can claim expenses for standard travel and, where the journey is over 3 hours, up to £195 per room for one night of accommodation.
