CTU has evaluated applications for the selection procedure for providers of special prices within the universal service.
"I am glad that we can continue with this form of support for disabled and disadvantaged fellow citizens, which I find very beneficial. It is also positive that eligible users will continue to be able to choose from a range of offers, services, tariffs and, in particular, providers," said Marek Ebert, CTU Council Chairman.
The aim of the selection procedure was to ensure that persons with special social needs have access to publicly available electronic communications services at preferential prices. Special prices apply to both fixed and mobile access to internet, as well as fixed and mobile voice services, in compliance with the Electronic Communications Act. The price discount is CZK 200 per calendar month, and is designed for persons with disabilities and persons with low incomes, see: https://ctu.gov.cz/en/detailed-information-discount-request.

According to the new decision, special prices will be provided from 1 January 2026 to 31 December 2028. CTU will impose obligations on individual providers who applied for the selection procedure so that there is no interruption to the existing provision of the service with a price discount (concession).
