Open letter from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) to road fuel retailers.
This open letter reminds road fuel retailers of the importance of registering with and reporting updates to Fuel Finder, the Open Data scheme for fuel prices. Retailers must be registered and submit price updates to Fuel Finder within 30 minutes of any price change.
The CMA has stepped up its monitoring of petrol and diesel prices in light of the conflict in the Middle East. From 1 May 2026, we will use our enforcement powers to start prioritising action against non-compliance relating to Fuel Finder, if we receive information that indicates formal action may be appropriate.
