It analyses various aspects of wisdom found in the Garden of Eden narrative, such as knowledge of creation, discernment and the tree of life.
It examines the wisdom of creation in other texts of the Tanakh.
How might Israel have become acquainted with Egyptian wisdom literature? Ancient Egyptian texts are referenced in relation to various wisdom books, such as Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and the Song of Songs, not only because of their literary similarities in terms of motifs. In Genesis, particular reference is made to the stories of Joseph and the two brothers. In this seminar, we explore possible routes of transmission and their “Sitz im Leben“
