BAE Systems remedy review
Consultation
15 October 2026: The CMA is reviewing the undertakings given by British Aerospace plc, now BAE Systems plc, arising from its acquisition of the Marconi Electronic Systems business of General Electric Company plc on 29 November 1999.

The undertakings included measures to safeguard competition and to address national security concerns arising in the defence sector. The CMA received a request from BAE Systems on 27 July 2026 to release BAE Systems from the undertakings. The CMA previously reviewed the undertakings in 2017, when the CMA recommended BAE Systems be released from the undertakings.

The CMA is inviting views on its intention to re-adopt its 2017 advice to release the remaining undertakings until 5 November 2026.
