The volume of transferred data higher again, Wi-Fi still dominates fixed internet 2.10.2025 | Český telekomunikační úřad The volume of minutes called in mobile networks in 2024 reached 27.3 billion real minutes, an increase of 2.7% year-on-year. The average monthly volume of traffic per voice SIM card also increased by almost 5 minutes, the average user made 167 minutes of calls per month. A similar indicator related to one subscriber line for voice services provided at a fixed location in 2024 decreased by 2 minutes year-on-year to 64 minutes, while the total number of subscriber lines also decreased to 1.163 million. The total number of active SIM cards used for voice traffic also fell again, to just under 13.6 million. With the growth of data traffic in mobile networks, which exceeds the growth of nominal prices, the average unit prices per MB of downloaded data continue to decrease. Over the monitored period (2020–2024), the prices of unlimited tariffs, which are at the average price level in international comparisons, also decreased. However, overall, the prices of mobile services are among the more expensive in European comparisons. In contrast, retail prices for fixed internet in the Czech Republic are among the cheaper in international comparison. The growth of the price level in the sector according to the monitored index for post and telecommunications for the monitored period (2020–2024) significantly lagged behind the growth of the price level in the national economy. Over the past two decades, the price level in this sector has even fallen slightly, i.e. deflation was occurring. This price development made the telecommunications sector exceptional and contributed to suppression of inflationary growth in the economy.
