Project name: HOPERO – Regulation of AI and digital services.
The Council for Media Services is an administrative authority responsible for supervising compliance with the legal regulations governing broadcasting, retransmission, the provision of on-demand audiovisual media services, and video-sharing platform services. It is also responsible for overseeing online platforms and other intermediary services established in the Slovak Republic. Given the large number of regulated entities, the regulator identified a need to take into account the varying levels of risk associated with different intermediary services when carrying out its supervisory activities.
“There is no greater honor for researchers than to collaborate with a regulatory authority that translates research into practical application. At the same time, it was both a challenge and a great opportunity to demonstrate the various interconnections between the legal framework for digital services and AI regulation.”
“Our collaboration with experts from KInIT helped us establish a methodological approach to assessing the risk levels of intermediary services. At the same time, the training series contributed to aligning knowledge and deepening understanding of digital regulation topics across departments. As an authority responsible for safeguarding a safe online environment, we consider cooperation with researchers to be an important component of effective, evidence-based supervision.”
