Bpost invests in new double-deck trailers to transport more parcels with fewer journeys 20.8.2026 | Bnode Bpost is increasing its efficiency and sustainability by making significant investments in new double-deck trailers. These extra-large trailers can transport 60% more parcels than a standard truck. Bpost aims to put the new double-deck trailers into operation before the start of the busy end-of-year period. The regulator for the parcel market recently confirmed that Bpost has the lowest CO2 emissions per delivered parcel of all operators in Belgium. Nevertheless, the company is not resting on its laurels and continues to invest heavily in sustainability and efficiency. With a new order of 19 double-deck trailers, Bpost is taking another step forward to make transport between its sorting and distribution centres even more efficient. The new trailers are expected to be operational by mid-November, just in time for the busy end-of-year period, when Bpost delivers up to 800,000 parcels per day. More than 2,000 parcels per journey Thanks to their extra-large loading space, which consists of two levels, a double-deck trailer can transport more than 2,000 parcels per journey. That is 60% more than a standard truck. This allows Bpost to reduce the number of kilometres driven. A parcel transported by a double-deck trailer is therefore delivered with 30% less CO2 emissions. The trailers are also equipped with numerous advanced features that make transport easier and smoother for Bpost employees. A movable loading floor inside the trailer allows parcels to be loaded and unloaded more quickly, while 8 solar panels on the roof of each trailer provide the necessary electricity. From mid-November onwards, the new double-deck trailers will be used for journeys between all Bpost sorting centres and distribution centres across Belgium. The country's largest electric fleetWith the addition of electric double-deck trailers, Bpost is further increasing the impact of its green fleet. The parcel company operates the largest electric fleet in Belgium, consisting of:- 55 double-deck trailers equipped with solar panels- 3,089 electric vans- 3,024 electric bicycles- 571 e-bike trailers (electric trailers for e-bikes) https://press.bnode.com/bpost-invests-in-new-double-deck-trailers-to-transport-more-parcels-with-fewer-journeys
