Statistics on International Development (SID) focuses on the main international measure of Official Development Assistance (ODA) spend. SID is published twice a year: provisional ODA spend in the spring and final ODA spend in the autumn. The provisional SID publication is based on summary data with limited sector and geography breakdowns. The final SID publication is based on finalised data and provides detailed breakdowns including a project-level dataset. The SID series are designated as Accredited Official Statistics. The release timetable FCDO makes every effort to release its Accredited Official Statistics as soon as possible and in an orderly manner, in line with the Code of Practice for Statistics. Provisional ODA spend is published in the spring and final ODA spend is published in the autumn. The timing of these releases is largely determined by: the timetable for reporting UK ODA figures to the OECD when the Office for National Statistics publish the latest GNI estimates the timing for processing and quality assuring the spending data from FCDO, other government departments and other ODA contributors Data, methods and quality In 2023 the Office for Statistics Regulation (OSR), the regulatory arm of the UK Statistics Authority, completed a short review of Statistics on International Development (SID) compliance against the Code of Practice for official statistics. OSR confirmed that SID continues to be designated as National Statistics (now known as ‘Accredited Official Statistics’). OSR’s full findings, published on 22 August 2023, are on the OSR website.
