On May 30 of this year, MESKO, as one of the PGZ companies comprising the PGZ-Amunicja Consortium (PGZ S.A., MESKO S.A., Zakłady Metalowe "DEZAMET" S.A., Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem S.A., Gamrat Sp. z o.o., and Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma S.A.) - signed Executive Contract No. 2 with the Armament Agency for the supply of 155mm rounds. This contract was signed under the EU’s SAFE Fund financing mechanism.

Under this agreement MESKO will supply modular charges with the contract to be executed between 2028 and 2030 using funds secured through the SAFE program and the total value of the contract for MESKO exceeds PLN 6 billion.

As part of its long-standing cooperation with Zakłady Metalowe "DEZAMET" S.A., MESKO supplies projectile bodies for 155 mm ammunition, which, combined with previously concluded agreements, ultimately grants Poland sovereignty over the production of complete 155 mm ammunition. It thereby ensures the continuity of supplies of 155 mm ammunition - a resource of critical strategic importance to Poland's security.

- The agreement signed today under the SAFE program paves the way for the Company to further enhance its competitiveness in both domestic and European markets. In the Company’s planned and progressively implemented initiatives we utilize all possible sources of financing to boost the potential of the Polish defense industry - said Renata Gruszczyńska, Chairman of the Board of MESKO S.A.

MESKO S.A., together with companies within the PGZ Group, is currently the only entity in Poland manufacturing 155 mm ammunition. Projectile production takes place at the Kraśnik facility, while modular charges are produced partially in Pionki. The company is systematically expanding its capabilities in this area and increasing its ammunition supply capacity, thereby bolstering combat readiness to the highest level. Building upon its existing potential and utilizing a combination of its own funds and state financing, MESKO S.A. is implementing projects to dramatically increase the production capacity for 155mm ammunition to 150 000 units annually.

The SAFE (Security Action for Europe) program is a European Union financial instrument designed to enable EU Members to immediately and massively increase defense investments through joint procurement from the European defense industry, focusing on priority capabilities. Under the SAFE program, the European Commission makes up to €150 billion in loans available to EU countries for investments in the defense industry.

The SAFE financial instrument was adopted by the European Commission on May 27, 2025, as part of the "Readiness 2030" package. The deadline for submitting national investment plans was November 30, 2025. On February 17, 2026, EU Member States gave final approval to Poland’s investment plan under the SAFE defense program. The Polish list included 139 projects totaling €43.7 billion in low-interest loans. On May 8, 2026, the Polish government signed a loan agreement regarding the SAFE mechanism with European Commission representatives in Warsaw.
