Whether you’re waiting in the school pickup line, plugging in for an EV charge, or commuting, so much of your day happens in the car. To help you make the most of that time, cars with Google built-in — available across 16 brands and more than 100 models — bring the apps you love, like Google Maps and Gemini, right to your dashboard, no phone required.

And updates that are rolling out in the coming weeks — alongside new entertainment apps and parked-to-drive features — will make every part of your trip more intuitive, whether you’re driving or parked.

With Google Play, your car's app library includes more than 700 apps. To make discovering and using apps in your car even easier, we’re introducing a redesigned Google Play experience.


Find what you need: See featured apps, what’s new, and helpful details right on the Google Play homepage, and download the apps you love with a single tap.
Browse with ease: Streamlined navigation and curated collections — tailored for whether you’re driving or parked — help you discover and compare apps for audio, video, gaming, and more at a glance.
See everything clearly: Because every car’s cabin is different, the flexible new Google Play layout dynamically adapts to the exact shape, orientation, and size of your vehicle's display.

Discover new ways to watch, listen, play, and more
Alongside the redesigned interface, new apps, including STARZ, Firefox, Ludo King, and JioHotstar, are arriving on Google Play for cars with Google built-in, giving you even more ways to stream shows, play games, or browse the web while you’re parked.

We’re also introducing richer in-car media features that bridge the gap between parked time and driving. Starting with YouTube, you’ll be able to watch videos on your dashboard while parked and keep listening uninterrupted with background audio the moment you shift into drive. 1

We'll continue to innovate as we build the next generation of in-car media experiences with automakers like Mazda, Honda, Polestar, BYD and Volvo, and media developers including Audible, Pandora, SiriusXM, Amazon Music, TuneIn, Gaana and The Post.

These updates make every drive better across cars with Google built-in, including GM vehicles like the next-generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 and their expansive center displays. When you’re hauling gear for a weekend project or taking a break on a road trip, you can download your entertainment apps with one tap from Google Play, navigate with Google Maps, and ask Gemini about your destination hands-free.

The updated Google Play experience in cars with Google built-in will begin rolling out over the coming weeks and will automatically update on your vehicle's display.
