UK Ambassador meets Honduras’ new Secretary of Finance

 The British Ambassador to Honduras, Juliana Correa, held a virtual introductory meeting with Honduras’ Secretary of Finance (SEFIN), Emilio Hernández Hércules. 


The discussion focused on priorities for economic governance and opportunities for future collaboration.

Secretary Hernández Hércules’ agenda focuses on strengthening fiscal responsibility, enhancing transparency, and supporting a stable environment for investment and economic growth. The wider government vision also prioritises reforms that reinforce the rule of law and strengthen public administration.

During the meeting, the Ambassador and the Secretary discussed potential areas of cooperation, including public financial management, climate resilient infrastructure and boosting the investment climate. SEFIN also identified opportunities for technical collaboration in debt management, fiscal risk modelling, and the modernisation of national investment planning.

The Ambassador reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s willingness to support Honduras in strengthening transparency, advancing institutional reforms and promoting a more competitive and resilient economy. Both sides expressed interest in maintaining close communication and exploring future avenues of cooperation across strategic sectors.
