Apply to join the Preventative Analytics for Youth Justice Advisory Panel 2.3.2026 | Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs The Ministry of Justice is making a public call for volunteers to become members of an expert advisory panel on the use of machine learning and advanced analytics for aiding prevention in youth justice. Please see the Terms of Reference for more details on the function of the panel. The Preventative Analytics for Youth Justice Advisory Panel (PAYJAP) is open to individuals with relevant professional expertise, including from the public sector, private sector, academia, or charities. Eligibility MOJ are seeking members with the following expertise: youth (re)offending machine learning or algorithmic decision support operational workings of the youth justice system (e.g. gained by experience in a youth justice service, charity, front-line child psychology or the police) legal frameworks for use of data and analytics with children ethical use of data and algorithms Criteria For the technical, legal, and ethical roles precedence will be attached to those with previous experience or knowledge of the application of advanced technology in youth justice, followed by those with similar experience in adult justice, followed by those with similar experience in public policy in general, followed by those with similar experience in other domains. Appointment details PAYJAP will meet remotely every quarter with some requirement for review of materials between meetings. Volunteer advisors will not be remunerated. Panel members will be expected to adhere to information handling requirements and governance. This may include signing a non-disclosure agreement and using secure methods for accessing and reviewing material. Application process Applicants are asked to submit their CV and a statement (of up to 300 words) summarising their motivation to serve on the panel and most relevant experience and expertise.
