Brussels Airport Fund launches new project call: up to €10,000 support for sustainable community projects

26.5.2026 - | Brussels Airport

Associations and organisations in the region around Brussels Airport can again apply for support from the Brussels Airport Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, until 16 September. For the fourth year in a row, Brussels Airport is supporting sustainable community projects that benefit both people and nature. Local organisations can receive up to €10,000 for their project. Over the past three years, Brussels Airport has invested a total of €362,000 in 42 projects through the Fund.

Good news for organisations near the airport: this year, the Brussels Airport Fund is launching a new project call for financial support of up to €10,000 in 2027. Anyone with a strong community-focused project can apply: including schools, sports clubs, non-profit organisations, neighbourhood committees and youth groups. Projects must make a positive difference to the local living environment in areas such as the environment, nature, social cohesion, green mobility, circularity, energy, or a combination of these themes. Applications for the regular operational activities of an organisation are not eligible.

The Fund was established in 2023, in collaboration with the King Baudouin Foundation. Since then, €362,000 has been awarded to 42 projects. During the previous project call, the non-profit organisation Nido in Haren received financial support for the further development of its inclusive care garden. Thanks to Brussels Airport’s contribution, the non-profit organisation was able to purchase a mobile relaxation area and build a terrace where people with disabilities can take a break during the vegetable garden workshops. This summer, TuinKafé will serve as a welcoming meeting place for local residents and young people.

In addition, the Borrekensveld neighbourhood park in Grimbergen was opened in late 2025. This green recreational area and park for local residents was selected following the 2023 call for projects. Thanks in part to support from the airport, the park was completely redeveloped and transformed into a sustainable green space for people of all ages.

This year, associations have until 16 September to submit an application via the King Baudouin Foundation website. An independent jury will then carefully analyse all applications and make a selection. The selected projects will be announced in early 2027.
